Aussie spec confirmed for 305km/h Alfa Giulia QV

Alfa Romeo's new Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde set for January debut with 375kW, 305km/h top speed and autonomous braking

Alfa Romeo has ramped up the teasers for its local launch of the 375kW twin-turbo V6-powered flagship of its new Giulia mid-size sedan range.

The 305km/h Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) already boasts a Nurburgring lap record and, according to the Italian car-maker, class-leading power-to-weight ratio, performance and fuel efficiency.

And before it arrives Dow Under in January, Alfa Romeo Australia is keen to spruik its equipment levels – although it’s being tight-lipped regarding its price.

Alfa Romeo claims more than 100 Aussies have ordered the car, first deliveries of which will take place in February (2017).

Although official pricing has not been revealed, motoring.com.au mystery shopped a number of Alfa dealers today and confirmed an indicative price of $140,000.

What is certain is the Giulia QV will arrive Down Under in eight-speed automatic rear-drive trim only.

Although Alfa claims the new four-door sport sedan can accelerate to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and storm on to a top speed of 305km/h, the QV will also feature cylinder deactivation to save fuel. The car’s European NEDC Combined fuel economy figure is 8.2L/100km.

No details have been released on the rest of the Giulia range.

Sitting at the very top of the all-new Giulia line-up, Aussie-spec QVs will be ‘burgers with the lot’. Active aerodynamics are standard and the QV will also arrive with 19-inch forged alloy wheels, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Brake and “pedestrian awareness”, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

There’ll be plenty of leather and Alcantara in the cabins along with aluminium and carbon-fibre highlights. The front seats of Aussie-spec QVs will be eight-way, electrically adjustable. A 14-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system and comprehensive infotainment system will also be standard.

The Giulia is a make-or-break car for the Alfa Romeo brand worldwide. It is expected to be followed relatively quickly by the Stelvio crossover, which breaks cover at next week’s Los Angeles motor show.

Alfa Romeo Australia will debut the Giulia QV at the Portsea Polo on January 14, 2017. The Italian brand recently took over the sponsorship of high-brow society event from stablemate Jeep.
