After a successful debut in the opening round of the series in May, the Carsales Network is pleased to team with Renault Australia to tackle the New South Wales round of the Australia Tarmac Challenge starting in Sydney on September 3. And this time we've got some big scalps in our sights with the ATC competitors set to face-off against the best rally drivers in the world.
The NSW event will snake its way up the coast to rendezvous with the World Rally Championship at Murwillumbah. Once there the ATC field will race the same super special stage around the town that Sebastian Loeb and co. will tackle in their WRC weapons.
Once again the Carsales team will be driving the Renault Clio Sport R27 used in the opening round. Journalist Stephen Ottley will be back behind the wheel again but will be partnered this time by Feann Torr, who will be making his ATC debut.
The Carsales-Renaultsport entry is one of 49 entries for the event across the three classes (Street, Club and Motorport). Mitsubishi dominates the field with various iterations of the Lancer Evolution, the choice for 16 competitors.
In the Street category the Clio R27 will be up against such big-engined opposition including a BMW M5, Porsche Cayman S, BMW M3, Volkswagen R32 and Ford Falcon XR8.
Competition gets underway at Eastern Creek Raceway and the Western Sydney International Dragway on September 3 and also includes a run up the Raymond Terrace Hill Climb before stopping overnight in Taree.
Day Two will begin with an Auto Test in Taree before stops at the Mt Cooperabung Hill Climb, Kempsey Auto Test and Raleigh Raceway before reaching Coffs Harbour.
The final day will see the field runs at Grafton Hill Climb and Casino Airport before reaching Murwilumbah where the winners will be announced.
