Great Wall Motors has slashed the price of its Steed dual-cab ute by more than $6000 as part of its 2018 Plate Clearance campaign that ends on December 31.
Normally priced at $25,990 plus on-road costs, the Great Wall Steed Dual Cab 4x2 petrol is now priced at $19,990 drive-away, which the Chinese brand says makes it Australia’s cheapest new dual-cab ute.
Great Wall also points out that the all-inclusive sub-$20,000 price tag makes the twin-cab petrol pick-up eligible for the federal government’s instant capital expenditure tax write-off.
Indeed, the 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol-powered Chinese twin-cab costs at least $1000 less than Toyota’s equivalent top-selling HiLux 4x2 single-cab chassis petrol Workmate ($20,990 plus ORCs).
It also undercuts the cheapest direct 4x2 dual-cab ute rivals like the JMC Vigus petrol ($21,990 drive-away), Mahindra Genio diesel ($25,490 drive-away) and Tata Xenon diesel ($23,990 drive-way).
At the same time, the price of the Great Wall Steed 4x2 Dual Cab diesel has been cut by more than $5000 – to $22,990 drive-away (normally $27,990 plus ORCs).
Both Steed twin-cabs come standard with a one-tonne payload, six airbags, Bosch ABS, tyre pressure monitoring, stainless steel sports bar, side steps, bed liner, electric driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, climate control and metallic paint.
Great Wall’s cheapest Steed ute continues to be the Diesel Single Cab 4x2, which was previously priced at $17,990 plus ORCs and until year’s end is now priced at $18,990 drive-away including a free Australian-made aluminium tray – at least $1000 less than its closest competitor.
