Austria has become a hypercar-making nation following news that Milan Automotive has created a rival for the Bugatti Chiron.
The small car-maker's first offering, called the Red, comes equipped with a mighty quad-turbocharged 6.2-litre V8 that produces an incredible 975kW/1400Nm.

Channelling all that power to the rear wheels is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Despite lacking the Bugatti's all-wheel drive, Milan Automotive claims the Red can hit 100km/h in 2.47 seconds – exactly the same as the Chiron.

Perhaps more remarkable is the Red's ability to hit 200km/h in 5.5sec and 300km/h in 10 seconds flat, according to Milan.
Top speed is claimed to be in excess of 400km/h.

Unlike the Bugatti Chiron, its new Austrian opposition is a comparative featherweight on the scales, weighing in at just 1300kg -- a lot less than the hefty 1978kg Bugatti claims for the lightest Chiron Sport.
Some of the weight-saving incorporated into the Red includes double-wishbone suspension created out of carbon-fibre reinforced plastics.

Helping reign in all that power are huge carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes that feature powerful six-piston callipers up front and four-piston stoppers at the rear.
Milan Automotive has confirmed it will make just 99 Reds, 18 of which are already sold – an impressive start for a hypercar rumoured to costs in excess of €2 million ($A3.2m).
