Carparazzi's latest spy pics of the 2011 Mercedes B-Class support the view that the new model will be less of a curiosity, more of a contender. Though the design appears to stick to the compact MPV design, it will be a lower, sleeker design and one that Mercedes-Benz hopes will attract younger (trendier) buyers to the brand.
There is plenty of talk about the new B-Class being a bona fide Volkswagen Golf rival and with news that the upcoming compact AMG sports car will be based on the new B-Class platform, the new compact car should deliver ride and handling to satisfy younger buyers who want a fun-to-drive vehicle (as opposed to a dull grandpa-mobile).
The current model B-Class is popular with the mature 60+ set, and the thinkers in Stuttgart want to lower that age significantly.
The master spy photographers who snapped these photos said the car had a "sportier appearance", despite the camouflage. Along with its more aggressive look, the redesigned 2011 model B-Class will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, possibly even a hybrid variant to rival the introduction of compact hybrid cars from other European manufacturers, such as Peugeot, in 2011.
