There’s less than a month left of Hyundai i20 N production and yet sales have never been stronger in Australia, with new data showing the pint-sized hot hatch to have outsold the i30 Sedan N by more than 300 units last year.
Hyundai Australia sold 1212 new i20 Ns in 2025 compared to 894 i30 Sedan Ns which might surprise some readers seeing as the latter was once the most popular N car on the market, while the former was previously the most exclusive.
It all comes down to supply: the Turkish-produced i20 N used to be sold across Europe, the Middle East and Oceania which led to prolonged wait times of more than two years for new Australian orders.

The i20 – and its bigger i30 N hatch stablemate – was axed from Hyundai Europe’s line-up in early 2024 which subsequently freed up a mountain of supply and comfortably made Australia the biggest remaining market.
Sales near-on tripled from 446 in 2024 to 1212 in 2025; an increase of 172 per cent.
Last year was the first and only time the i20 N has outsold the i30 Sedan N across a full calendar year – both models launched in 2021 with the i20 arriving first – in much the same way 2022 was the only year the Sedan outsold the i30 N hatch.
Since then, the margin between the two i30 models has grown year-on-year to span 968 units in 2025 in favour of the hatch (894 vs 1862), which enjoyed its second-best year last year thanks to freer supply out of the Czech Republic following the model’s European axing.

As of December 2025, the N is the only i30 hatch you can factory order, with Hyundai Australia confirming to carsales the popular performance model will “be here for the foreseeable future” – what happens after that, we’re not sure.
By contrast, the i30 Sedan N has already been confirmed for a second-generation, with rumours and recent prototype sightings suggesting it could debut as soon as next year.
We’ve also heard murmurs of a second-gen i20 N being in the works, though the familiar manual-only, lightweight, turbo-petrol recipe is tipped to be binned in favour of a new compact performance hybrid system – meaning only two pedals, more weight and a higher asking price.
At the other end of the spectrum, Hyundai Australia will soon launch the six-figure IONIQ 6 N electric super sedan.
