Aussie newcomer GAC is about to reveal a slew of key new models in China, and many of them will have relevance to Australia – especially its first dedicated 4x4.

The Beijing rollcall for GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co) includes the brand’s first off-roader, a sports SUV, an expansion of the Aion lineup already seen in Australia and a shooting brake with Porsche-like styling developed with Chinese telcom Huawei.
All these new models are being rolled out by the various brands that state-owned GAC sells in China – Aion, Trumpchi, Hyptec and its Huawei co-venture dubbed Aistaland.
In Australia, models have already been sourced from some of these brands and sold under the GAC badge, which means all these various reveals have potential relevance in Australia.

The off-roader, which has been reported previously under the ‘T75’ codename, will be a plug-in hybrid from the Trumpchi brand that already provides the Emzoom compact SUV and M8 PHEV people-mover.
Teaser photography of the T75 reveals a boxy shape reminiscent of the Land rover Defender and Toyota Prado.
GAC’s EV brand, Aion, is revealing a vehicle called the Concept Aero about which we know absolutely nothing right now. But it sounds slinky and will be electric.

It will be the first Aion to bear a new logo dubbed ‘Easy Life’ that aims “to bring users a more stylish, intelligent, and safer all-scenario travel experience”.
Of course, Aion already supplies two EVs to GAC in Australia: the V SUV and UT hatch.
The Hyptec brand is currently unrepresented in Australia, but it intends to launch a vehicle named the S600 in Beijing that’s described as a “new luxury intelligent sports SUV”.

The electrified specialist is currently best known for the SSR sports car, and the S600 is a refreshed version of the existing gullwing door HT first launched in 2023 and already assessed in Australia.
Coming from Hyptec means it will be somewhat upmarket and therefore a potential flagship SUV for GAC in Australia, whether it comes as an EV or range extender (both are offered in China).
Finally, the Aistaland GT7 has been seen previously revealed, but GAC is describing Beijing as both the brand and the car’s international debut.

The GT7, which has real Porsche Panamera design overtones, is offered as a tri-motor all-wheel drive EV and range extender with a 3000mm wheelbase and 5050mm overall length.
It goes on-sale in China in June.
So what out of this lot comes to Australia? Considering GAC’s huge Aussie ambitions, some of them will head here for sure.
Within three years GAC says it will be a top 10 brand with 60,000 sales and more than 10 models on-sale.
It has confirmed a ute will be part of that line-up as soon as 2027.
The new Trumpchi off-roader would be a high priority for Australia, while anything SUV also has to be a strong chance.
