Japanese luxury car maker Infiniti has provided a sneak-peak at its new QX70 SUV in the form of the QX Sport Inspiration concept, which will make its world premiere at the 2016 Beijing motor show later this month.
It can't come soon enough for the upstart Japanese prestige brand as the existing QX70 mid-size SUV, currently priced between $75,900 and $104,400, is fundamentally unchanged since 2008.
The Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration concept will provide strong clues as to how the next QX70 will be styled, if the company's form is anything to go on. The concept car that previewed the QX30 SUV, for example, was awfully similar to the final production model.
Nissan's premium brand talks about its 'Powerful Elegance' design language and "sophisticated craftsmanship", not to mention "wide muscular lines, shoulders reminiscent of the Q60 Concept, floating A-pillars and extra-wide wheel-arches".
Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti's design boss, says "The QX Sport Inspiration expresses a power and purpose that is uniquely Infiniti.
"With a flowing, natural aesthetic, this concept demonstrates how Infiniti can offer something new and exciting with future QX SUV models," he said.
Although Infiniti isn't giving much else away at this stage, except for a glimpse at the concept's front-end design, it's likely the new QX will be offered with the company's new 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6Koeru concept, which belts out 300kW and 475Nm in its highest state of tune.
