No, this isn’t an all-new Paceman from MINI, but a major midlife facelift similar to the one we saw for the Countryman at this week’s New York motor show.
Revealed at today’s Beijing show, the two-door Paceman naturally comes with the same upgrades as the five-door Countryman, including more powerful and efficient engines, an upgraded ALL4 all-wheel drive system, new front-end styling and extra equipment.
The 2014 Paceman line-up, including a revised MINI John Cooper Works Paceman flagship, will go on sale globally from July.
New options include a fresh Piano Black Exterior, special alloy wheels, reduced rolling resistance tyres and exterior paint finishes including Jungle Green metallic and Midnight Grey metallic, while the JCW gains dark speedo and tacho dials.
The four-seater Paceman also adds chrome applications for the ventilation controls and the MINI Center Rail storage system and tyre pressure monitoring.
New options include LED foglights with daytime driving lights and LED parking lights, to go with xenon headlights with adaptive turning light, comfort access and a glass push/tilt roof.
The two petrol and two diesel four-cylinder engines now meet Euro 6 emissions standards, including the JCW’s 160kW turbo-petrol four.
Despite this, the Cooper S Paceman ups its output by 5kW to 140kW, while fuel consumption is now 6.0L/100km for the six-speed manual and 6.8L/100km for the auto. ALL4 versions consume 6.4 and 7.1L/100km.
The base 1.6-litre Paceman makes 90kW/160Nm (190Nm as an auto) and consumes 5.9 and 6.9L/100km (ALL4: 6.7 and 7.0L/100km).
