Luxury car maker Bentley has teased the interior of its new Bentayga due early next year in a video it released late last night.
Claimed to be the “pinnacle of luxury and performance”, the big SUV will come with hi-tech features such as night vision and selectable drive modes for varying road conditions, as the video reveals.
It’s hard not to also notice the Bentley’s speedometer reads up to 300km/h – proof that the new SUV will boast serious performance from its 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbo engine.
As well as the W12, the 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo is also expected. For the first time a turbo-diesel and plug-in hybrid will be offered in a Bentley, the latter capable of travelling 50km on pure-electric power alone.
Based on the new Audi Q7 platform, Bentley hopes its new SUV will attract a new audience to the brand and boost sales by as much as 50 per cent locally, as revealed in a recent motoring.com.au interview with regional Marketing and Communications and Sales boss, Silvia Saliti.
Last year Bentley registered just 135 vehicles Down Under, but this will grow to over 190 per year once the Bentayga arrives, according to Saliti who also insists her firm’s first SUV will be a “true Bentley”.
Back at Bentley’s UK HQ in Crewe the British car maker is commissioning a new production line for Bentayga following an £800m investment in its factory.
According to Saliti the company plans to increase total production (passenger car and SUV) to around 18,000 units by 2018. Last year Bentley built just over 11,000 cars.
When it goes on sale the Bentayga is expected to be the most expensive SUV Down Under, although Bentley has not yet confirmed pricing.
