Bentley launches Australian limited-edition

Black Speed is the name of Bentley's first ever local limited-edition

The Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix is the launch platform for Bentley's first Australian limited-edition model. Dubbed Bentley's Black Speed by Mulliner, the new two-door is based on the Continental GT Speed and boasts a range of bespoke details.

Just 10 of the  Black Speed coupes will be offered to Australian and New Zealand customers.

The car is powered by Bentley's current W12 flagship petrol powerplant and features what Bentley describes as unique styling additions.

Black is the predominant colour, as the name suggests, however, red highlights are featured inside and out.

Side skirts borrowed from the company's Breitling Jet Cars limited edition, special badging and new Sports Directional alloy wheels finished in gloss black set the car apart from its normal Continental GT speed counterparts.

The interior is also customised, including a never seen before 'Engine Spin' aluminium fascia finished in striking anodised red.

The car is also offered with optional carbon ceramic brakes and other features which were included in the company's Continental GT3-R limited edition.

Bentley anticipates many of the 10 limited-edition cars will be sold at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix.

David Simpson, Bentley's Manager, Dealer Sales in the Asia/Pacific region, said the Black Speed is "the most complete version of a limited edition and colour concept Bentley has yet completed".

Bentley consulted local customers in the planning of the Black Speed. Simpson says Aussie Bentley buyers are typically younger and more sports orientated than their counterparts in other regions. The success of brands like Mercedes-AMG spurred on Bentley in the decision to launch Black Speed, he said.

The Black Speed is priced from $525,000 and with optional carbon ceramics add in the region of $20,000. The drive-away price is circa $600K.

Simpson told motoring.com.au that based on the success of the Black Speed, Bentley could offer more limited edition models to Australasian buyers.

The company also launches its first ever SUV this week. The Bentley Bentayga features a 447kW W12 engine and is priced from $423,600 plus ORCs for the First Edition launch variant.
