Bentley's attention to detail is nothing short of astounding, but this 'gigapixel' image is just showing off.
The specially commissioned shot is a 53 billion-pixel image that allows you to get intimate with the new Mulsanne, thanks to the use of space exploration technology. Sounds like a cheap exercise, right?
Originally developed by NASA for Mars rovers, this technology creates an intimate, interactive peek inside the Bentley Mulsanne. At first click, the view is from 700 metres, but use the zoom function to reveal a close-up view with such clarity that you can see the 4,500 stitches of the 'Winged B' head restraint logo. And then you can navigate your way throughout the cabin for the full virtual tour.
The image is the result of 700 individual shots, brought together digitally, producing an image that is 4425 times larger than a typical smartphone snap. Far from typical, Bentley.
Kevin Rose, Bentley's Board Member for Sales and Marketing, said: "Nowhere is Bentley's famed attention to detail better demonstrated than with our new Mulsanne. We wanted to commission this shot to capture both the exquisite detailing of the Mulsanne and the epic scale of our band's ambitions. We believe the result is truly extraordinary."
The shot features the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, situated on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The Extended Wheelbase will not be sold in Australia, so here's your best chance to get up close and personal with Bentley's pinnacle limousine offering.
