Mercedes-Benz dealers will commence delivery of the C 63 AMG Black Series Coupe from April next year — and the most powerful C-Class model the prestige manufacturer has ever developed will be priced at $245,000.
“In Australia we have offered two AMG Black Series models in the past and they were very quickly snapped up by AMG aficionados who recognised their unique character and scarcity," said Horst von Sanden, MD for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars in Australia.
"This is our third Black Series and it follows on from the success of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series (40 units for Australia/NZ) and the SL 65 AMG Black Series (7 units for Australia/NZ).
“The C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series will be limited to a total of 35 units for Australia and New Zealand. Obviously we wanted to get more but, the global customer demand for this latest Black Series (since it was revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show) has seen our allocation limited to just 35 units. Many CLK 63 AMG Black Series owners see the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series as the logical successor and we already have a double figure order bank.”
Benz claims the C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series will reach 100km/h from a standing start in 4.2 seconds, thanks to the thrust of 380kW and 620Nm from the car's 6.2-litre V8, hand-built at AMG's Affalterbach facility in Germany. In addition, the Black Series model features AMG-designed 19-inch alloy wheels, diff lock, illuminated door sills, keyless start, exclusive badging, carbonfibre trim highlights and sports seats in Artico/Dinamica with red stitching.
Owners can also opt for an AMG Aerodynamics Package and a Track package. Bucket seats are a further (no-cost) option.
Each car sold in Australia will have its own certificate of authenticity and a 'letter of provenance' from Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific, confirming the car's low-volume exclusivity.
