Benz gives SLK a makeover
Minor facelift and efficiency gains mark the entry-level Mercedes sports car for 2015Mercedes-Benz will introduce a mildly updated SLK sports car to Australia from around the third or fourth quarter of this year.
The SLK range will remain much as it is, but the base model, the SLK 200 gets a torque hike of 30Nm, taking it to 300Nm (with power remaining at 135kW). Upmarket, the SLK 300 sees a larger peak power increase from 155kW to 180kW and torque is bumped up from 300Nm to 370Nm. All engines are now Euro 6-compliant and all variants are now offered with auto-stop/start.
In other markets the SLK gains standard equipment, but the car's specification for Australia is "not locked in yet," according to senior Benz spokesman David McCarthy.
Some minor tweaks include a new design of daytime running lights and a restyled gear lever for the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. Two new colours are added to the selection: Selenite Grey metallic and Designo Cerussite Grey Magno.
