Buyers in the market for a prestige people-mover can now consider the latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz Viano line-up, the lengthily named Viano Grand Edition Avantgarde.
The new Viano range-topper, which we previewed two weeks ago is expected to fill the void created by the discontinuation of the R-Class people-mover.
It is differentiated by sports suspension, distinctive 19-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels and black grille befitting its position at the top of the Viano range, and a ‘Grand Edition’ badge.
Convenience levels are also bolstered, via bi-xenon headlights and electric assistance for the sliding doors, while the seven-seat interior gains sports pedals, leather door trims and a dashboard finished in ‘satin-finish burr-walnut look’ woodgrain trim.
The Viano Grand Edition Avantgarde is powered by Mercedes’ 3.0-litre V6 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY turbo-diesel engine, which produces 165kW at 3800rpm and 440Nm between 1600-2400rpm.
The Grand Edition is priced from $81,940 plus on-road costs – almost $3000 more than the standard Viano diesel upon which it’s based.
