Italian stylist, coachbuilder, manufacturer and industrial design consultant Bertone has signalled its comeback by releasing a new silhouette of an all-new supercar.
Featuring trademark triangular side vents that reference the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero concept, as well as the low-slung look of the original Lamborghini Countach – both of which were designed by Bertone – the new concept is the first original vehicle penned by the Turin-based firm since the 2012 Nuccio.
Both the front and rear styling of the unnamed supercar, meanwhile, are said to preview a more modern design direction that breaks with tradition with its LED lighting signatures and intricate front light design. The duckbill nose also hints at some advanced air bending.

Aero aids also dominate at the rear, where a large diffuser imposes heavily on the design. There are also cross-shaped lamps and illuminated Bertone badging, plus a pair of exhaust outlets that suggest the supercar is powered by a traditional combustion engine.
The concept is said to have been created to mark “the dawn of a new era for contemporary Bertone”, but there’s no official word on whether the supercar concept will enter production.

However, Instagram posts suggest the unnamed supercar could be made to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the brand.
If that happens it could be based on the Lamborghini Huracan, with which the concept shares similar proportions, and therefore powered by the same naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 as the mid-engined supercar.

First founded back in 1912 by Giovanni Bertone, the famous Italian stylist went on to design the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce and the Lamborghini Miura and Countach, as well as the Citroen XM and numerous other influential cars.
Bertone declared bankruptcy in 2014 but was snapped up in 2020 by brothers Jean-Franck and Mauro Ricci, who operate automotive technology consultants Akka.
More teasers are expected in the following weeks and months in the build-up to the new Bertone concept’s official debut, which is expected to take place in early 2023.
