BEST OF BRITISH: Rolls-Royce Gallery

Deep within the Rolls-Royce factory, there's a small but sumptuous room called the Goodwood Studio reserved for extra-special customers

If you've ever bought a new car, there's a slim chance it may have been delivered with a giant bow on the front, or perhaps a sash or similar.

If you buy a Rolls-Royce, a really special one, you'll get a little more than that.

Because every Rolls-Royce motor car is unique in some way — perhaps via custom 'starlight' optic-fibre patterning in the roof lining, unique timber veneers or even a family crest embroidery on the seats — the company has created an equally unique hand-over experience.

It's called the Rolls-Royce Gallery and within it resides the Goodwood Studio, epitomising everything that we've sought to uncover in our Best of British series.

And it doesn’t disappoint. Waiting outside the Goodwood Studio in the beautifully finished Rolls-Royce Gallery is relaxing.

I imagine that if I had the cash to plump for a bespoke Rolls-Royce -- say around $1.3 million give or take -- and it would naturally take around 12 months to construct, I might get thirsty. Matcha green tea, thanks.

As I sup, there's a subtle low-pitched sound that's felt more than heard. Then it's time to head into the Goodwood Studio, the final step in the vehicle delivery process, and the sense of occasion intensifies.

Upon entering a large, dimly-lit room furnished simply but elegantly, a shrewdly placed couch invites the guest to be seated. All of sudden the lights dim and the deep-toned acoustics increase.

Then it's go time as the curtains peel away, an audio-visual extravaganza is unleashed upon the senses and my (imaginary) new pride and joy is presented with enough razzle-dazzle to make a multi-million-dollar motor show reveal look tame.

Rolls Royce Studio 2

It's one of those rare experiences you wouldn’t believe existed until you saw it with your own eyes.

The video we shot only goes some way to conveying the sense of awe and wonder as the vehicle is presented, the mind-melting audio system within the Goodwood Studio adding the kind of gravitas that makes your jaw muscles clench.

Some new cars are delivered to customers with the new-car smell. If you're lucky you may get chintzy ornamentation and a basket full of muffins.

But if you buy a Rolls-Royce then maybe, just maybe, you'll be granted admission to the Goodwood Studio.

If you do, you won't quickly forget it.
