Blood, sweat and gears

'Automotive reality show' on air

Australia's first-ever "automotive reality show" Blood, Sweat and Gears appears tonight on Fox 8 at 8pm.

Presented in the same vein as television's Big Brother and Survivor challenge shows, Blood, Sweat and Gears pits owners of some of the country's best muscle and exotic cars in challenges to decide Australia's King of Cars.

Originally eight contestants took part in the challenges, although only seven made it to the final draw by the end of the filming, which took place at the Shepparton during Victoria's Spring Car Nationals in November last year.

The show features a great range of competition-winning beauties from around the country, judged by long-time driving instructor Ian Luff. Contestants' cars include a Holden Commodore VL Brock, Ferrari Modena, Chev Corvette, Mazda RX-7 and Nissan Silvia taking on challenges such as driveability and speed tests, Go to Whoa and Show 'n Shine.

The show runs for eight episodes starting this Friday, and is sponsored by car care specialists Selley's and Turtle Wax. Visit the Turtle Wax website to see some of this week's show here.
