The Suzuki Grand Vitara is generally regarded as more capable offroad than the majority of compact SUVs. But a limited edition model announced by the importer acknowledges that most of the vehicles sold in this segment rarely head off the bitumen.
The Grand Vitara Urban is a new, limited edition model tailored specifically for the town and country set -- with a little more emphasis on the 'town' element.
While it's based on the basic five-door, the Grand Vitara Urban adds Bluetooth connectivity, reverse parking sensors and alloy wheels to the specification for a price starting at $31,990 for the manual variant. This figure is $2000 more than the price of the standard Grand Vitara, but includes on-road costs and dealer pre-delivery.
The Bluetooth system is integrated with the vehicle's audio system, which mutes the sound when a call is answered. Another feature of the hands-free phone system in the Grand Vitara Urban is the voice command operation. In addition, voice volume levels can be adjusted using the remote audio switchgear on the steering wheel and phone operation is enabled by one button.
"Grand Vitara has always been recognized for its outstanding off road credentials, but it's just as comfortable in the urban jungle as well," Suzuki Australia General Manager Tony Devers was quoted as saying in a press release.
"Suzuki has smashed another myth with the Grand Vitara Urban proving you can have the best of both worlds at a price you can afford."
