BMW 4 Series Convertible coming in March

Prestige importer announces pricing and specifications for its 4 Series Convertible
BMW has spilled the beans on its upcoming 4 Series Convertible, a drop-top variant of its previously released 4 Series Coupe.
As expected, exterior styling of the BMW 4 Series Convertible retains almost all of the same elements present in the 4 Series Coupe. Featuring a low, wide stance, large air intakes up front and overall athletic proportions, the 4 Series Convertible is a sleek and sexy machine.
The biggest difference between the Coupe and Convertible is obviously the retractable three-piece hardtop, able to come on or off in just 20 seconds. With this iteration, BMW saw fit to increase the sound dampening in the roof for reduced road noise in the cabin, and even fitted the roof with an interior light.
As standard, the 4 Series Convertible will come packaged with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission, but how much power is being pushed through the transmission is up to you.
The base 420d Convertible, is packed with a four cylinder turbocharged diesel, producing 135kW of power and 380Nm of torque. Good for a zero-to-100km sprint time of 8.2 seconds and returning a fuel economy figure of only 4.8L/100km.
A step up sees you with a 428i Convertible, which comes equipped with a turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine. Packing 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque, this is enough to propel the 428i Convertible to 100km/h from a standstill in 6.4 seconds and still do 6.7L/100km.
The top-spec 4 Series Convertible is the 435i Convertible, featuring a turbocharged six cylinder petrol engine, producing 225kW and 400Nm. With a 5.5 second zero-to-100km/h time and with fuel consumption figures of 7.7L/100km, the 435i Convertible certainly has the performance to match its aggressive looks.
The options list for the 4 Series Convertible is copied over from the 4 Series Coupe, however auto start/stop, brake energy regeneration, eco pro mode, electric power steering and a wind deflector all come as standard on the drop-top Beemer. The option of an Air Collar that will warm your neck via a variable stream of air also comes standard with the top of the line 435i.
Pricing on the BMW 4 Series Convertibles are as follows:
420d Convertible – $88,800
428i Convertible – $97,500
435i Convertible – $126,600
The BMW 4 Series Convertible will hit showroom floors in March 2014, and if it's anything like its fixed roof twin, it will be the most fun you can have with your top down.
