In a bid to increase sales of its 5 Series prestige saloon, BMW is now offering customers three years' free servicing and improved standard features, adding around $9000 extra to each car.
All models in the 5 Series range, from the four-cylinder 520d to the eight-cylinder 550i, benefit from the new servicing scheme, which has the potential to significantly reduce running costs.
As well as the free servicing offer, BMW has sweetened the deal even further with a range of added features on all models. Head-up Display, professional navigation with 8.8-inch monitor, TV and voice recognition systems have been added to all 5 Series vehicles.
"The new product offering on 5 Series translates to exceptional value for customers wanting the very best in luxury motoring," says BMW Group Australia Managing Director, Stavros Yallouridis.
"For each 5 Series model the new product offering equates to an injection of around $9000 of additional value," he said.
The specifics of the deal are thus: 5 Series buyers get a three year or 60,000km service inclusive package.
"The dual benefit of both enriched product substance and three years servicing provides a very compelling opportunity for potential buyers," Stavros said.
Year on year, sales of the BMW 5 Series have slumped by around 43 per cent, which has forced the German car maker's hand into developing new ways to entice customers back into showrooms.
As well as the free servicing package, BMW has also improved standard equipment on entry-level models including the 520d, 523i and 525i, which now get Park Distance Control, while the 530i, 530d and 530i Touring models now come with Comfort Access as standard.
The top-shelf 550i also gets Comfort Access, plus added standard features like the HiFi loudspeaker Logic 7 system, plus Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go function.
BMW Australia has confirmed that deliveries of the new BMW 5 Series package will begin this month (July '09).
