BMW has announced a number of limited-edition versions of its new 7 Series limousine to celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.
The special Seven is kitted out with lots of fancy features such as special leather upholstery and even a matching rhodium-plated gold Montblanc pen worth around $10,000, but perhaps the most stultifying aspect of the car is its name.
How BMW's marketing department in Munich landed on this is particular title is difficult to fathom, but here it is: BMW Individual 750Li THE NEXT 100 YEARS.

For the sake of simplicity we'll call it the BMW 7 Series Centenary edition, which is available with three powertrains: four-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid and V8 and V12 petrol engines both augmented by twin turbochargers.
In total just 100 cars will be built.
Rear- and all-wheel drive variants are available, and every vehicle is finished in Centennial Blue metallic paint on the outside and luscious Merino leather on the inside. The latter finished in a 'Smoke White' hue.

As with all high-end 7 Series models, the special-edition cars feature world-first gesture control technology – just swish your hand around in mid-air to turn up the volume, for instance – and semi-autonomous driving tech.
BMW Australia has confirmed to motoring.com.au that the BMW 7 Series Centenary edition will be coming Down Under as an ultra-exclusive collector's edition only for a select few buyers.
"We are going to bring in this 7 Series in extraordinarily limited numbers," said Lenore Fletcher, BMW Australia's General Manager of Corporate Communications.

She explained that only "one or two vehicles" will be imported to Australia "for specific customers for who relish the opportunity to own a unique a BMW vehicle".
It's not clear what sort of premium the BMW 7 Series Centenary edition will command over regular models in Australia, which usually cost between $217,000 and $312,000, but expect it to be significant.
