BMW is celebrating the introduction of the M3 Convertible back in 1988 by releasing just 300 units of a limited-edition model for sale around the world.
Apparently named the M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years, the exclusive M4 is to be powered by a 331kW powerplant and will come as standard fitted with the M Competition Package, which comprises a sport exhaust system, adaptive suspension, the Active M differential and a hard-core calibration for the stability control system.
Distinguishing features of the M4 30 Years include BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line trims for the grille surround, M side gills and 20-inch forged M light alloys in a star-spoke design and finished in Orbit Grey matt. Two colours will be available: Macao Blue and Mandarin II Uni. The latter is a yellow, paying homage to Dakar Yellow from earlier years and the blue harks back to the original M3 Convertible.
Inside, the M4 30 Years will feature Merino leather trim, contrast stitching on the headrests, and M floor mats with piping in the contrasting colour. Blue M4s will be trimmed in either combination of Black/Fjord Blue or Black/Silverstone, according to customer preference. For yellow M4s, the interior surfaces will be black, with yellow contrast stitching. All models will be decked out in carbon fibre as standard, and the '30 Jahre Edition' legend appears on the door sills and headrests.
BMW Australia advises that Munich is yet to advise what allocation of the M4 30 Years will be set aside for Australia. The local arm is keen to offer the car to Australian buyers and fingers are collectively crossed for the low-volume M4 to arrive here in the second half of this year.
