Don't be fooled by the 'concept' label - like the Mini Concept unveiled at Frankfurt, this one's destined for production.
The first ever Z4 tin-top features a steeply raked tailgate and a fixed roof incorporating a dual dome reminiscent of a generation of Zagato 'double-bubble' sportscars. BMW says the roofline "accentuates the sporting look and character of the Coupe bringing the focus to the rear wheels and giving the car the appearance of a beast ready to spring into action..."
As with the 6 Series, the large centrally-mounted BMW badge serves as tailgate opener and handle. New lights and large exhaust pipes complete the makeover.
Under the long, flat wide bonnet, BMW has fitted the latest 3.0lt VALVETRONIC mag-alloy inline six-cylinder. Thus powered the Z4 Coupe Concept Car can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.7 seconds. We wouldn't bet against a production Z4 Coupe sporting a version of the M-Power six that currently powers the E46 M3, however...
