BMW confirms local pricing and specs for new 7 Series

German brand's new flagship luxury limousine available from November, priced from $217,500

Following our specification preview and international drive, BMW Australia has announced pricing and model details for its new flagship 7 Series limousine.

The BMW 7 Series range is priced as follows, excluding on-road costs:

730d -- $217,500
740i -- $224,200
740Li -- $238,000
750i -- $289,600
750Li -- $312,700

All variants benefit from carbon core structure technology which saves 130kg over the previous generation.

Opting for the 730d entry point brings a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine, coupled to an across-the-range eight-speed automatic transmission. Key stats for this driveline are 195kW/620Nm, while consuming a claimed 4.9L/100km on the combined cycle.

Key specification – over and above the previous 7 Series -- includes 19-inch alloy wheels, BMW Display Key and Touch Command, lane change warning, steer assist, and ‘Pure Excellence’ design theme, though the M Sport package is a no-cost option across the range.

Occupants benefit from a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon surround sound system and a heat comfort package for the front row. This includes steering wheel heating, seat heating and heated armrests. Nappa leather upholstery, leather instrument panel, electric side blinds, and professional navigation with gesture control are all newly-fitted to the latest 7 Series.

These latest additions are augmented by key equipment also found in the outgoing 7 Series, including HUD, rear-view camera, glass sunroof, active park distance control, digital radio and BMW’s ConnectedDrive services.

The petrol-powered 740i and long-wheelbase 740Li share the same specification as the 730d, save the panoramic glass sunroof fitted to the rear-passenger focused 740Li. Both models utilise a 240kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol, using 7.0L/100km combined.
With a price hike of over $50,000 from the 740Li limo to the standard-wheelbase 750i, you’d expect a big chunk of added refinement.

Powered by a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine, 750i and 750Li variants generate 330kW/650Nm, with fuel economy of 8.1L/100km and 8.3L/100km respectively.

Additional specification over the outgoing 750 range includes 20-inch alloy wheels, the BMW Display Key, BMW LaserLights with selective beam, Touch Command, Pure Excellence design (M-Sport is a no-cost option), professional nav with gesture control, nappa leather with leather instrument panel and front heat comfort package

‘Executive Drive Pro’, which uses projected camera data, driving style analysis and dynamic damper control to fine-tune the ride and handling characteristics, is also new to the flagships.

Of course, this builds on a strong base, with items such as the adaptive air suspension, HUD, Driving Assistant Plus, parking assistant, night vision with pedestrian recognition, surround view and TV function already standard.

The 750Li’s panorama sunroof features Sky Lounge technology. It builds further differentiation over the standard-wheelbase 750i with massage function, active seat ventilation and heat comfort package to front and rear, electrically-operated rear seating and the rear seat entertainment experience.

The 730d, 740i and 740Li will be available from November this year, with the 750i and 750Li range-toppers following in the first quarter of 2016.
