BMW iNEXT EV set for November 11 debut

Production version of Model X fighter to feature both next-gen electric powertrain but the car-maker's latest semi-autonomous driving tech

BMW has confirmed it will pull the drapes off its all-new BMW iNEXT as part of a series of online events starting on November 11, ahead of the all-new pure-electric SUV's global launch in early 2021.

Created to rival cars like the Tesla Model X and the Jaguar I-PACE, the iNEXT will be almost as large as the current X5. It was previewed by the 2018 Los Angeles motor show concept of the same name and was shown testing back in 2019 in sub-zero conditions.

Full technical details have yet to be revealed, but it's already known that it will be based on the car-maker's next-generation platform architecture that can underpin EVs, hybrids and traditional petrol and diesel powertrains.

It's thought that flagship iNEXT models will come with a powerful 120kWh battery that should provide a range of up to 700km between top-ups.

The iNEXT will also be offered with Level 3 autonomous driving capability when launched, allowing for hands-off and eyes-off driving at up to 130km/h on the highway.

Later on, during the iNEXT’s lifetime, this will be upgraded to full Level 5 autonomous driving capability without the need for any input from the driver.

Stay tuned, as BMW is expected to begin teasing what will be the most advanced car it has ever launched in the build-up to its online debut.
