BMW appears to be the latest victim of a security breach after images of its production-ready iX3 SUV have surfaced completely undisguised online.
The images, posted by
, are claimed to be genuine and look like they were lifted from an official photoshoot in preparation for the launch of the battery-powered mid-size luxury SUV.Only the lower half of the front bumper appears to differ from the iX3 concept that was revealed at the 2018 Beijing motor show, with this vehicle also featuring a blanked-out pair of kidney grilles, blue accents on the sills and lightweight aerodynamic wheels.
At the rear, the latest member of the BMW i sub-brand features blue diffuser plates where exhaust outlets would normally sprout in the rest of the X3 SUV range.
Under the skin, the car-maker's versatile CLAR platform, which has been developed for both internal combustion engines and pure-electric powertrains, packages a 74kWh lithium-ion battery that should provide for a WLTP-verified range of 440km.
Two versions are expected, including two-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive twin-motor model that will arrive later.
The single-motor version, which incorporates an electric motor mounted at the rear to drive the back axle, is expected to produce a punchy 210kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
There's still no word when BMW plans to unveil the iX3, but the leaked promotional images suggests its official reveal will be imminent.
