BMW has revealed the all-electric iX4, the third model based on its Neue Klasse architecture. Due in Australia during the first quarter of 2027, the SUV-coupé will launch in two dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants priced from $103,900 before on-road costs, with a flagship M60 xDrive set to follow later in the year.

The Finer Details
Replacing marketing promises with hard numbers, the headline figure for the new BMW iX4 is range.
The entry-level iX4 40 xDrive combines dual electric motors producing 275kW and 520Nm, backed by an 82.6kWh battery. BMW claims a WLTP driving range of up to 638km, while 300kW DC charging allows a 10-80 per cent recharge in 21 minutes.
Stepping up to the iX4 50 xDrive brings outputs of 345kW and 645Nm, along with a larger 108.7kWh battery. BMW claims up to 828km of WLTP range, while maximum DC charging increases to 400kW. Under ideal conditions, the company says up to 387km of driving range can be added in 10 minutes.
Performance figures are competitive for the segment. The iX4 40 xDrive completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds, while the iX4 50 xDrive cuts that to 4.9 seconds.
Dimensionally, the iX4 measures 4782mm long, 1895mm wide and 1595mm tall, with a 2897mm wheelbase. Luggage capacity is rated at 490L, expanding to 1600L with the rear seats folded, while a 58L front storage compartment is located beneath the bonnet.
Inside, the iX4 introduces BMW's new Panoramic iDrive interface. Standard equipment includes a 17.9-inch central display, BMW Panoramic Vision head-up display system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, heated front and rear seats, adaptive M suspension and a panoramic glass roof.
The Road Ahead
The BMW iX4 is expected to reach Australian showrooms in the first quarter of 2027. A higher-performance iX4 M60 xDrive will follow later in 2027, adding M-specific drivetrain, chassis and styling upgrades.
