BMW M Performance SUVs from $147K
Pricing announced for triple-turbocharged diesel variants of BMW X5 and X6 due here next monthFans of BMW's M Performance brand can begin lining up for the first models to be delivered in Australia when the X5 and X6 variants are launched here next month.
Pricing, according to the prestige importer, will be $147,000 for the X5 xDrive M50d or $157,000 for the X6 xDrive M50d. Both models feature the same engine, an inline six-cylinder diesel with a three-turbo induction system. In a press release issued by BMW today, the 280kW six was described as "the world's most powerful" engine of its type. Peak torque is 740Nm, available from as low as 2000rpm, through to 3000rpm. Both models will reach 100km/h in under six seconds from a standing start (5.3 seconds for the X6 and 5.4 for the X5). Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are rated at 7.5L/100km, 199g/km (X5) and 7.7L/100km, 204g/km (X6).
The cars ride on 20-inch alloy wheels in a double-spoke design, finished in Ferric Grey metallic. Standard specification includes M tuned servotronic steering, Adaptive Bi-Xenon Headlights, Head-Up Display, Navigation Professional and BMW Individual High Gloss shadow Line. Inside the vehicles feature a leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, Sports seats (in Alacantara / Leather combination upholstery with contrast stitching in white and M lettering) and BMW Individual headlining in anthracite.
The cars coming to Australia initially will be from BMW's American production plant for and that April batch will also include an upgrade for the other variants in the X6 range.
“These M performance vehicles each have a distinctive character and open up an entirely new model category,” said BMW MD, Phil Horton. “They will appeal to the particularly sporty driver for whom everyday practicality is also an important consideration.”
