BMW M3 Pure Coupe to go fast
Limited production numbers will ensure affordable M3 will not last long in the showroomsA BMW M3 coupe for $125,000 is hard to ignore. That's a lot of car for the money, although less car than the standard model you normally buy for $155,100.
Basically the M3 Pure Coupe has had comfort and convenience features pared back to account for the $30,000 difference in price. Scott Croaker, the Product Communications Manager at BMW stipulates that buyers can elect to re-specify the M3 Pure with some of those deleted features if they prefer.
"Some of the features that don't relate to performance and dynamics have been dropped to achieve that price point," said Mr Croaker. "But certainly, when you look at the make-up of the spec that's been dropped from standard specification, it still doesn't equate to 30 grand. It's a slightly refined list, but overall it's just an incredibly sharp pricing package."
Features deleted include the six-disc CD changer, adaptive headlights, Comfort Access System, sunroof, anti-dazzle/power fold-in exterior mirrors, front-seat heating, Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, High-Beam Assist and metallic paint.
In addition, the black Novillo leather found throughout the interior in the standard M3 is confined to the headrests in the M3 Pure Coupe, with a cloth/leather combination applied elsewhere, complemented by Titanium Shadow decorative trim.
The M3 Pure Coupe retains standard features such as: bi-xenon headlights, Navigation System Professional, Bluetooth and USB audio interface, storage and lights package, Anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror, Park Distance control front and rear and the Carbon Fibre Roof.
BMW is also offering readjusted pricing for select M3 options; the Competition Package will be priced at $1800 from March production – a saving of $600 – and M Drive comes down $700 to $2700. Dynamic Damper Control, which must also be ordered to go with the Competition Package, is reduced $700 in price to $3300.
The M3 Pure Coupe is being built in a limited-production batch from March for the Australian market only, with BMW dealers taking orders now. BMW Australia is claiming the M3 Pure Coupe is not a value-added limited edition model, as such, and there's no word at this stage as to how long the car will remain in production.
