The incoming 2022 BMW M3 Touring has set a new Nurburgring lap record for wagons at Green Hell, recording a 7:35.060 time ahead of the first-ever M-branded load-lugger’s official unveiling on June 23.
In setting the fastest lap ever recorded for a series-production wagon, the new BMW M3 Touring lapped the fearsome German circuit faster than the current Honda NSX supercar (7:36) and even the hard-core previous-generation BMW M4 GTS (7:37).
Set to officially break cover on June 23 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, along with the BMW M4 CSL, we already know that BMW’s new Audi RS 4 rival will come equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine that will pump out 375kW and 650Nm of torque.
Combined with a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive, the M3 wagon will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
Stay tuned, as more details of the M3 Touring are expected to be teased in the build-up to its launch.
