BMW M3 Touring shows off its AWD

First-ever M3 wagon has fun in the snow; likely to be auto-only without a rear-drive option

BMW is continuing to build anticipation for its first-ever BMW M3 Touring by releasing a new Instagram video that shows its fast M wagon playing in the snow ahead of its launch this year.

Filmed to chime in the new year, in the short Instagram clip you'll see the M3 Touring power-sliding in fresh snow to spell out '2022'.

Created to rival both the Audi RS 4 Avant and the Mercedes-Benz C 63 S wagon, the 2022 BMW M3 Touring will come with the M3 and M4’s powertrain and feature a 375kW/650Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine in Competition trim.

However, official fuel economy and emissions data suggests the wagon-bodied M3 will employ a suitably M-fettled version of BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system combined with the eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.

While sedan-bodied M3s can be optioned with a six-speed manual transmission, the latest details suggest it’ll be an auto-only affair for the wagon.

It's not known when exactly the fast BMW M3 Touring will touch down here, but it's already been confirmed the first-ever M3 wagon will be offered as part of the sixth-gen BMW M3 line-up.

Expect more details to drop, along with plenty of other teasers, in the build-up to the M3 Touring's debut.
