Tyres spinning, brakes smoking, rubber burning, engines wailing – all the sights and sounds you'd expect to see at the Nurburgring or Mount Panorama. But according to BMW the "ultimate racetrack" is neither of these.
Nope, the ultimate race track is atop an aircraft carrier, floating out at sea.
As far as manufacturer videos go, this is easily one of the coolest we've seen in a long while, as the 3.0-litre turbocharged BMW M4 gracefully slides around the deck of a naval aircraft carrier, which has been given a makeshift race track finish.
Created by BMW Canada, the film contains no "Ultimate Driving Machine" catch-cries or BMW logos, just Beemer's most exciting coupe being pounded on a naval vessel.
We thrashed the $167,000 M4 Coupe on a race track in New Zealand last week, and we loved it, the car's 317kW/550Nm six-cylinder engine a ripper, the chassis wonderfully assured.
But is it sharp enough to be driven at full-tilt on an aircraft carrier, without taking a dip in the ocean? That's the burning the question many will ask – is the video real?
Honestly, who cares when it looks this good. Enjoy!
