BMW Australia has secured eight examples of the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition revealed overnight in Germany.
Based on the all-new BMW M850i xDrive Coupe, which will be launched in Australia alongside the BMW M850i xDrive Convertible in late April, just 400 examples of the First Edition will be produced at Dingolfing between April and June 2019.
Pricing is expected to be announced at the local launch of the new 8 Series, which replaces the 6 Series, but expect a premium over the standard 2019 M850i Coupe ($272,900 plus ORCs).
The BMW M850i xDrive Convertible costs $281,900 plus ORCs and the initial two-door 8 Series models will be followed by the four-door M850i Gran Coupe, plus piping-hot M8 (and M8 Competition) and potentially turbo-six 840i versions of all three body styles.
There are no changes to the all-wheel drive 850i Coupe’s 4.4-litre 390kW/750Nm twin-turbo V8 or eight-speed automatic transmission, or it 3.7-second claimed 0-100km/h sprint time.
But among the First Edition’s host of exclusive BMW Individual exterior additions is the first appearance of a special Frozen Barcelona Blue metallic paint finish, High Gloss Shadow Line treatment for the side window surrounds, grille and air intakes, and black tailpipe trims.
The dark exterior accents are complemented by 20-inch Y-spoke M light alloy wheels in Jet Black and options will include an M Carbon roof and an M Carbon exterior package.
Inside, there’s BMW Individual full Merino leather trim in Ivory White/Night Blue colour combination, Night Blue for the M leather-clad steering wheel and BMW Individual Alcantara roof lining and Black Piano BMW Individual interior trim strips with ‘First Edition 1/400’ lettering.
There is also a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and Crafted Clarity glass finish for the start/stop button, iDrive Controller, volume knob and illuminated gearshift lever.
These features are in addition to standard 8 Series equipment including BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional including 12.3- inch customisable instrument cluster, BMW Head-Up Display and BMW’s Operating System 7.0.
