BMW Japan has revealed a new special-edition version of the M6 coupe to commemorate the marque's 100th anniversary.
Called the BMW M6 Celebration Edition Competition, just 13 of the limited-edition coupes will be made.
All come painted in what the car-maker calls Austin Yellow, which is combined with black 20-inch alloy wheels and carbon-fibre body accents, plus a black chrome grille.
Inside, there's a carbon-fibre gear selector, black leather with yellow stitching and a 1200-Watt premium sound system. Dotted around the cabin and door sills are also M6 Competition logos.
Strangely, for a right-hand drive market, all of the celebratory M6s will be left-hand drive for added 'authenticity' for Japanese buyers.
Coming standard with the $12,000 Competition Pack, the M6 Celebration Edition's
4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 441kW/700Nm instead of the standard car's 412kW/680Nm.
That means, against the clock, the M6 reaches 100km/h from standstill in just 3.9 seconds and tops out at 305km/h.
In Japan the 13 M6 Celebration Edition Competition will each sell for around $290,000 -- which is around $2000 less than an M6 Competition Pack sells for in Australia.
