BMW reveals new look 3 Series

In the face of renewed threats from rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz, BMW has taken the wraps off a face-lifted 3 Series Coupe and Convertible range. These first official images of the new two-door twins show off the exterior changes and the company has also revealed some under the metal updates too.

Although due for an update, the new look 3 Series Coupe and Convertible is timely, as Audi has recently added the A5/S5 Cabriolet to its local range and Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled its new E-Class Cabriolet.

Given that an all-new 3 Series is under development and is due within the next two years, these latest changes are mostly cosmetic. At the front, there are new dual round headlights with light rings and bars, a redesigned front bumper and bonnet and changes to the famous kidney grille. At the rear, the new models gain redesigned LED taillights and there are also new side sills.

While not revealing any details, BMW has confirmed a number of the new models will feature engines upgraded to meet EU5 emission standards as well as providing increased performance.

BMW Australia has confirmed that the updated models will arrive in Australia by the middle of the year. Pricing and the exact specification won't be revealed until closer to the date though.
