BMW Australia has announced the new flagship model for the X4 coupe range, the xDrive35d, which arrives in showrooms later this month.
Replacing the xDrive30d, the new model not only receives more power and torque but also enhanced specification levels to justify its position at the top of the X4 range.
The xDrive35d is powered by the familiar 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-diesel used across the BMW range, generating 230kW of power and 630Nm of torque, and matched to BMW's eight-speed automatic transmission.
These figures help the xDrive35d to charge from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds, while maintaining a claimed fuel consumption figure of 6L/100km.
Apart from the new engine, the xDrive35d also features an extensive standard equipment list, which it shares with the equivalent xDrive35i petrol model. These include Dynamic Damper Control, 20-inch M light alloy wheels, as well as a suite of driver assistance technologies such as adaptive cruise control with braking function, front and rear Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera and Surround View 360 degree camera system.
The long list continues with the inclusions of keyless vehicle access, power tailgate operation and BMW's ConnectedDrive Services. The suite of ConnectedDrive features includes Real Time Traffic Information and Intelligent Emergency Call, while headline in-car entertainment features include DAB+ Digital Radio as well as a 16-speaker Harmon/Kardon Surround System.
In addition to these features the xDrive35d comes equipped with the M Sport package as standard, as well as the M Aerodynamics package, M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles and Nevada leather upholstery.
Priced from $89,900 plus on-road costs, the X4 xDrive35d presents a competitive offering to sporty premium SUVs like the Porsche Macan and its not-so-distant cousin, the Audi SQ5.
