The new full-fat V8 twin-turbo BMW X5 M might be a while away, but customers of the all-new 2019 BMW X5, which arrives Down Under in December, will soon have the option of new M Performance Parts.
The new additions, developed by the German car-maker's performance division, don't actually improve power or torque of the fourth-generation BMW X5, pricing for which was announced earlier this month.
Instead, a host of exterior and interior parts have been redesigned to give the BMW X5 a sportier, more menacing look.
Outside, the big new German SUV gets the options of Ferrari-style front bumper winglets made from carbon-fibre, while a larger front air-intake increases the visual punch.
Other changes include new matte black 20-inch alloy wheels and a more powerful M Performance brake upgrade.
There's also a pair of carbon-fibre mirror caps and side sills, while to the rear of the car there are yet more bumper winglets and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser.
It's not known if any of the visual M Performance updates have any real aero effect.
Inside, the BMW X5 M Performance upgrades include a sportier carbon-fibre Alcantara steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and new floor mats.
For enthusiastic BMW X5 drivers, the M Performance upgrades also add a Driver Analyser that uses the infotainment system to add an on-board telemetry system that records the driving data and GPS positioning to help improve driving style and even reduce lap times...
In Europe, the M Performance styling kit will become available in March 2019, but it's not yet known when Australians will be offered the styling upgrades.
Available to order now, the new BMW X5 is priced from $112,900 for the entry xDrive30d, stretching to $149,900 for the X5 M50d.
