BMW XM hits the red carpet

Blue velvet Bimmer looks like Naomi Campbell and sounds like Hans Zimmer

When a world-renowned supermodel partners with a luxury vehicle manufacturer to create a bespoke piece, you can expect a jaw-dropping result.

This chic velvet blue BMW XM plug-in hybrid high-performance SUV is exactly that.

The one-of-a-kind BMW XM Mystique Allure is the love child of British supermodel Naomi Campbell and Bavarian car-maker BMW. It was unveiled at the 77th Cannes Film Festival this month, where BMW is the official automotive partner.

Flanked by metallic blue sequins and rich velvet, the bespoke XM is said to have been heavily inspired by Campbell, designed using “exclusive materials from the world of haute couture” and with “a unique soundtrack devised in cooperation with film score composer, Hans Zimmer”.

“Witnessing BMW’s vision for the BMW XM Mystique Allure come to life has been truly incredible,” said Campbell in the official BMW release.

“I feel deeply honoured to have sparked the inspiration for their [BMW’s] first-ever high-fashion show car, which stands as a unique masterpiece in every aspect.”

Inspired by Campbell’s favourite colour, Mystique Allure is finished in a matte blue paint job, topped with a range of luxury textile materials including velvet and sequins that BMW says cast hues ranging from intense violet to deep ultramarine.

Inside, it’s purple velvet galore, while those on board are treated to Zimmer’s exclusive driving soundtrack.

In electric drive mode, Bimmer says every movement of the accelerator is accompanied by 'an emotionally engaging sound that authentically represents the car’s outstanding performance and magnetic visual allure'.

No news from BMW Australia whether the Campbell Pack will be offered on local XM deliveries.

BMW also unveiled the latest addition to its BMW Art Car Collection this week, a radically colourful race car designed by New York-based (and Ethiopian born) artist Julie Mehretu, which is set to compete at this year's Le Man 24 Hour.
