Bollinger Motors claims its B1 is the world's first pure-electric SUV.
The rugged Land Rover Defender-style vehicle is the first offering from a start-up automotive company founded by Robert Bollinger, a former Manhattan advertising executive and skincare entrepreneur.
Available with either a 60kWh or 100kWh battery, the B1 offers a range between recharges of 200km to around 320km.
The performance model, employing dual electric motors, is claimed to produce 265kW/640Nm, accelerate to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and provide a top speed of 204km/h.
Bollinger also claims its lower output 60kwh B1 can be recharged in seven hours using a household plug socket, or 45 minutes with a fast charger.
One look at the pics confirms Bollinger's claim the B1 will never be a Tesla rival and, from day one, was created as a back-to-basics 4x4 - a go-anywhere pure-electric rival for the Jeep Wrangler.
Which may explain the lack of items like electric windows and satellite navigation, although the B1 does come with Bluetooth and plenty of USB charging ports.
Weighing in at a relatively light 1800kg, Bollinger hopes the B1's zero emissions and sturdy off-road ability will help secure lucrative contracts with North American Government agencies such as Police departments and the Fish and Wildlife Services.
Priced to the public from $US60,000 ($A75,000), Bollinger claims to be holding plenty of $US1,000 from customers ahead of deliveries starting in 2019
Bollinger hasn't yet revealed who will be building its pure-electric SUV.
