BP fuels breast cancer awareness

Monies raised to fund McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurse program

BP is making sure your fuel purchase makes a difference this week, donating 12c per litre of all BP and Autogas branded fuels sold via its service stations until Sunday, October 9 to the McGrath Foundation in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

More than $1 million has been raised for the McGrath Foundation by BP and its customers over the past three years, with funds contributing directly to the employment of McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities around Australia.

McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director, Tracy Bevan, said the organisation is reliant on partners like BP to support its work in the community.

“BP continues with us on this journey and in an extension of its support, is offering all Australians a simple way to continue vital fundraising for those most at-need,” Bevan said.

The McGrath Foundation says it costs around $380,000 to fund one new Breast Care Nurse for three years.

As well as adding to campaign coffers, BP will also partner with the McGrath Foundation to tour the East Coast of Australia to champion the role of Breast Care Nurses.

Its distinct pink and white branded Nissan X-TRAIL will visit a number of service stations from Queensland to Victoria to raise awareness towards ongoing fundraising needs. To follow along with the journey, see BP’s Facebook page.

BP is not the only automotive-related company to involve itself with breast cancer awareness via the McGrath Foundation this month.

Kumho Tyre is also supporting the cause, raising funds for the McGrath Foundation through Pink Fitters Day on October 14 with a $5 contribution from the sale of each set of its distinctive pink valve caps donated to the Foundation’s work.
