Brabham has announced the addition of a new Competition variant to join the BT62 supercar range.
The Australian manufacturer says each variant – Road compliant, Competition spec and race-ready Ultimate – will be limited to just 70 vehicles each, with customers given a choice of two livery options.
Using the same 5.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine and lightweight FIA compliant carbon safety cell with roll cage, the Competition gets the same level of performance as the Ultimate, but is more ‘stripped back and ready for racing’.
It’s lighter than the Ultimate, has no passenger seat or Initial Spares Pack (which can be optioned) and comes with an exposed carbon interior. It also gets a competition-ready gauge display and a removable multi-function steering wheel.
The 522kW mid-mounted V8 is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox while the BT62’s advanced aerodynamics are good for 1200kg of down force.
Underneath is a pneumatic jacking system, centre-locking wheels, carbon-on-carbon brakes, motorsport ABS and traction control.
Competition variants will have the ability to be upgraded to the track car or road compliant specification, should the owner wish.
The Adelaide-based company offers the supercars in either left or right-hand drive.
Local pricing has not yet been confirmed for the BT62 line-up that’s due to arrive in 2020, but hopeful owners should budget upwards of $1.8 million in any given variant.
