BRABUS rocks Mercedes-Maybach

Mad tuning house offers 350km/h-plus limo

Overlapping meetings in your calendar? Perhaps the BRABUS ROCKET can help you freeze time

Taking the already-outlandishly powerful 390kW Mercedes-Maybach S 600, BRABUS creates the ROCKET 900 6.3 V12 by ripping apart the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, adding a billet crankshaft with longer connecting rods for a stroke increase, and boring out the cylinders with matching pistons to take capacity to 6.3 litres. The net effect is 662kW and 1500Nm, with a top speed claimed to be 'in excess of 350km/h' and 0-100km/h in 3.7sec – impressive for a 2.8-tonne gross vehicle weight.

Of course, the turbochargers are also upsized for more boost, and there's a full customised exhaust system to expel the extra gases. On the intake side there's a carbon-fibre intake module that features 'gold heat reflection' sheathing to keep temperatures down. Of course, there's upgraded control systems for injection, boost and ignition systems to ensure the ROCKET 900 grunts hard while meeting Euro VI emissions standards. BRABUS claims 11.9L/100km and CO2 emissions of 279g/km on the Euro combined cycle.

BRABUS has waved its wand over the inside, too, with the four-seater draped in leather, alcantara, wood and carbon fibre with colours 'to order', via its in-house upholstery shop. BRABUS iBusiness multimedia features Apple componentry and applications to turn the ROCKET 900 into a mobile office... or movie theatre.

Outside there's platinum-edition monobloc forged 21-inch wheels with 255/35 ZR 21 front and 295/30 ZR 21 rubber fitted to the rear. BRABUS incorporates a special module to work in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz magic body control that allows the suspension to be lowered by around 25mm over the standard Maybach, without detracting from ride quality.

Design-wise there's a unique radiator grille with integrated LED DRLs and a bespoke front bumper with integrated lift-reducing front spoiler. A BRABUS rear bumper is also fitted with an integrated diffuser featuring exhaust cut-outs for the cockpit-switchable, butterfly-valve equipped exhaust; it's perfect for when you don't want to be heard in the wrong location, or alternatively to wake up that nosy neighbour at your lakeside villa.
