Although 'cars driven by the stars' is probably more appropriate, given the cutting-edge drama will be better remembered for its authentic acting and often confronting story line, rather than the daily drivers used by the show's characters.
As a result, there could be some bargains to be had by collectors, including the least likely star car of them all, the ugly Pontiac Aztec driven by mild-mannered chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine king pin, Walter White (played by former Malcolm in the Middle star Bryan Cranston).
Breaking Bad producers used three Azteks in the show, with one to remain on display at the Sony studios in Culver City and one used as a parts car.
The one being auctioned (with a starting bid of $1000) is a 2003 model used as a crash vehicle. Not in driving condition, it's a little bit worse for wear with a wrecked rear quarter and broken glass.
Another car driven by 'Mr White' (or Heisenberg as he became known in the drug world) is the 1977 Cadillac Sedan de Ville used in the fifth and final season. It has a starting bid of $5000 and like most cars in the show, has seen better days – with faded paint, a few dings and scrappy interior but at least it drives.
Keen viewers will also recall the red 1982 Monte Carlo driven by Walt's former student and meth lab assistant, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). It played a pivotal role in saving the life of Walt's drug enforcement agent and brother-in-law, Hank Schrader (Dean Norris), when during a shoot-out with Tuco Salamanca in a car park, dropped down via its crazy hydraulic system to allow Hank to shoot the bad guy. The starting bid for this one is $2500.
Although slightly newer, the pinkish red 1986 Toyota Tercel also driven by Jesse on the show is another battered warrior, and with 181,500 miles on the clock, has a starting bid of $5500.
Also up for grabs is the 'Vamonos' pick-up truck (starting bid $5000) used in season five, after Walt comes up with the idea of using the cover of Vamonas Pest Control to cook his famous blue meth inside houses being fumigated for termites.
Then there's the 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 'woody' wagon driven by Walt's long suffering wife Skyler White (Anna Gunn). Complete with regulation oil leaks and bubbling and chipped paint, it has a starting bid of US $7125.
A car you'd (possibly) want to own, with a starting bid of $10,000, is the 2008 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Marie Schrader (Betsy Brandt), whose husband Hank finally runs out of luck in the hands of neo-Nazi Jack in the New Mexico desert, in season five.
In surprisingly good condition, the Beetle got plenty of screen time and while it's not Marie's signature purple, it's close – a dark blue.
Unfortunately, the black 'off-road' Chrysler 300C SRT8 driven by 'Heisenberg' in season five, that got a hole in the fuel tank after a shoot-out in the desert, forcing White to walk across the desert rolling his last remaining barrel containing $10million in cash, is not part of the auction. Nor is the brand-new bright orange Dodge Challenger that went up in flames after Skyler disapproved of it as a birthday present for Walt Junior.
All up, 11 Breaking Bad cars join hundreds of other items used in the show in the online auction, including Walt's bright yellow Hazmat suit and his famous white underpants worn in Episode 1, and Hector 'Tio' Salamanca's wheelchair used in one of the most memorable explosions in television history.
Breaking Bad airs its final, sure-to-be-nail-biting episode in Australia next week.
