Bridgestone has responded to the burgeoning market demand for luxury SUVs with a new tyre embracing technology that the company claims provides superior performance and safety on the road.
"Over the past six years we have seen a massive surge in demand for luxury SUV tyres, with sales of tyres 17 inches and over almost doubling," Bridgestone Australia MD Andrew Moffatt was quoted saying in a press release.
"With this in mind, we have engineered an innovative product with a focus on safety, delivering high levels of grip without sacrificing the features customers expect from a premium SUV tyre."
The Alenza 001, which has been developed specifically for vehicles such as the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE and Porsche Cayenne, joins Bridgestone's existing Dueler and Ecopia SUV brands in a range of sizes from 215/65R16 to 285/45R22.
Two developments key to the Alenza are the 'Nano Pro-Tech' tread compound and the tyre's block structure. Combining silica and a polymer at a nanotechnology scale to control the property's of the tyre's rubber structure, the Nano Pro-Tech innovation improves wet-weather grip and resists wear, Bridgestone claims. Featuring a 'multi-round' array and chamfered, M-shaped sipes, the tyre's block structure brings with it gains in braking performance and steering response, says the tyre manufacturer.
"Once again Bridgestone's commitment to innovation delivers an all-round market leading performance product," Moffatt said.
"Luxury SUV owners demand the best, and the Alenza meets those demands across the board."
