Brisbane car dealership opens barber and hair salon inside showroom

As companies look for innovative ways to adapt to the financial challenges brought on by COVID-19, one Brisbane car dealership has taken diversification to a whole new level.

Barton’s Motor Group in Brisbane’s bayside has opened a barber shop and hair salon inside their car dealership so customers can now have a new hairstyle when they collect their brand new Hyundai or beard trim with their next oil change.

Barton’s managing director Mark Beitz said the auto industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and the company had to look for new ways to retain and attract customers to show that they're a cut above the rest.

"We were exploring ways to innovate and thinking about how we can help maximise our customers‘ time while waiting for their car to be serviced," he explained.

"Many people are time poor, so by combining services they can get a style cut, blow dry or shave before heading out to dinner."

The salon which is situated inside the Mitsubishi showroom has two hairdressers with a combined 48 years of experience. You’re able to have haircuts, blow dries, shaves and beard styling which caters to men, women, children, and pensioners.

Mr Beitz said the additional service available at the dealership was not just about revenue.

"It’s about offering customers something special and different, and giving people a reason to visit us. It’s also about looking after our staff, who are offered discounts, and helping to create a sense of community across our local Wynnum Manly region.”

The concept has been so well received, there are now plans to open a barber shop at the company’s Capalaba dealership by the end of the year.

This isn’t the first time a Brisbane based dealership has offered additional services for customers onsite, Mercedes-Benz Brisbane’s new mega dealership includes a number of restaurants and bars, a cooking school and health and wellbeing businesses.
