Bristol has officially revealed its first all-new model since production of its 360km/h 736kW Fighter supercar wound up back in 2011.
Claimed to be all-new, the Bullet that was leaked earlier this week sits on a platform that is capable of accommodating a pure-electric and range-extender hybrid technology.
For now, the Bullet will come equipped with the 272kW/500Nm naturally-aspirated 4.8-litre V8 BMW engine that’s currently used in the Morgan Aero 8 roadster.
Weighing in at just 1130kg, thanks to its bonded aluminium chassis and carbon-fibre body panels, Bristol claims its retro roadster will hit 100km/h in less than four seconds and top out at a limited 250km/h.
Created to celebrate the firm's 70th anniversary, just 70 versions of the V8 speedster will be made, each costing £250,000 (around $440,000 before options).
Said to have been inspired by sports cars made by the British car-maker during the mid-1950s, the Bullet features period design details like a bonnet scoop, rectangular radiator and pair of rear tail-fins.
Inside, a 1950s-themed leather interior rubs shoulders with a modern touch-screen infotainment system.
It's not known where the British car-maker will make the new Bullet, but production is expected to start later this year with the first car reaching its owner by early 2017.
It's unlikely that the car-maker will offer the Bullet to Australian buyers, at least any time soon.
Both the platform and BMW V8 are both expected to be used on future Bristol sports cars that are already believed to be in development.
Bristol is now owned by hybrid powertrain expert Frazer-Nash, which also owns the manufacturer of the famous black cab.
