Ford UK has released pictures of a Mustang interceptor cop car at a trade show in the United Kingdom.
The Mustang police car was shown off in the hope it would attract the numerous police forces attending the show who might be tempted to choose the big, powerful rear-wheel drive coupe for high-profile and traffic roles.
Complete with reflective police livery and light bar, it's believed to be the first time in the history of British policing the Ford has been considered for traffic roles because, previously, the fast Ford coupe was only available in left-hand drive.
Powered by the 306kW/530Nm 5.0-litre V8 engine the Mustang, if chosen, will join the ranks of a truly eclectic line-up of British squad cars that over the years has included vehicles from the likes of Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar, numerous Imprezas and Evos and, even, an Ariel Atom.
At the show Ford UK did not comment on any orders but did say that the Mustang "would make an excellent patrol car and would encourage safer driving on our UK roads."
Since deliveries began in March, Ford has already sold 3500 Mustangs in the UK.
