The images you see here are the first renderings of the Bufori CS (for "Compact Sports") -- a niche sportster that will make its debut at this weekend's Macau Grand Prix.
"Who or what is Bufori?" you may ask. The answer is that it's a specialist carmaker that was founded in Sydney in 1986, but which shifted its operations to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in the 1990s.
The company has earned its bread and butter over the past two decades by producing a range of lightweight 1930s-inspired offerings handcrafted from carbon and Kevlar.
However, for its latest creation the company has opted for a more contemporary look, and the Bufori CS appears to have elements of the Bolwell Nagari (another Aussie low-volume special) in its styling.
Bufori hasn't as yet released too much in the way of tech details, other than revealing that the CS will be powered by a front-mounted 2.0-litre turbo engine and that its monocoque body is made of ultra-light and rigid reinforced carbonfibre and Kevlar, draped over a spaceframe chassis.
The unequal upper and lower arm front and rear suspension with coil over shocks are fully adjustable and "provide excellent road holding", according to the company.
Bufori plans to launch the CS in 2010, and the car will be sold through the company's dealer network, which includes outlets in Germany, the United States, the Czech Republic and its home markets of Malaysia and Australia (its sole Aussie outlet is in Ashfield, Sydney).
Meanwhile, the Bufori BMS R1, the race edition of the CS, which is homologated to FIA GT3 requirements, will make its debut at this weekend's Macau Grand Prix.
"After two years of hard work in designing and developing our new sports car, the Bufori CS, we are very proud that a racing version of our car has been developed and will have its first public appearance at such a prestigious event as the Macau Grand Prix," said Bufori marketing manager Felix Haller.
"We could not have wished for a better occasion. Our intention is to transfer the racing technology to the road version of the Bufori CS and bring in all the qualities for which Bufori is renowned."
