French supercar maker Bugatti has found yet another way to breathe new life into the Veyron, the world's fastest car. This time it has come up with a stunning blue carbonfibre weave as an option for those who have money to burn.
There is no performance difference but there is a price premium. The special treatment brings the cost of the car to 1.5 million Euro plus taxes. But buyers don't seem deterred: even the show car that was unveiled at the Volkswagen Group's pre-show debut evening, pictured, was sold.
More than 250 Veyrons have been built since the model went on sale in 2005.
The boss of Bugatti, Franz-Josef Paefgen, told the assembled media conference on the eve of the Frankfurt motor show, that the global financial crisis had put a dent on supercar sales, but he believed the slowdown in customer interest was only temporary.
"I believe the global financial crisis is a crisis of [consumer] confidence," he said.
"A lot of people are keeping their hands in their pockets and seeing how the economy develops. But in the medium to long term the future is bright. The forecasts are clear," he said
The blue-weave Veyron is the latest in a number of special editions released by Bugatti.
